Julie Hall
(Life After, #3)
Publication date: March 19th 2018
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

After defeating the red dragon’s legion of bloodthirsty demons, Audrey can finally settle into the afterlife with the knowledge her family is safe. But her quest for a perfect existence shatters the moment Logan is kidnapped in an attempt to bend her to Satan’s will.
Audrey must now travel to the one place no hunter has ever ventured to save the man she loves . . . Hell.
Savage demons, desiccated corpses, life sucking zombie trees, and a land of death and rot await Audrey and her friends as they battle through the fiery realm.
But Logan’s freedom comes with a price . . . the destruction of Audrey’s happily ever after.
As Satan schemes for dominion over all the realms, Audrey learns that some acts may be beyond redemption.

We sat on his bed, tucked up against the headboard, Logan sitting with one knee bent and an outstretched leg, and me curled into a ball against his chest, practically cuddled on his lap.
When my tears were spent, I let out a shaky breath of air.
“Audrey, I can’t—” Logan’s voice caught on something. His head rested on top of mine. When he continued, his voice dropped an octave, thickened with emotion. “I can’t imagine what you went through down there. I’m so very sorry. I should never have bonded with you.”
I savored the warm thud of his heartbeat on my cheek for several seconds before what he’d said sunk in. The leakage from my eyes along with a bad case of the feels must have dulled my reactions.
I jerked to a sitting position to stare at him in disbelief—and anger. My face was crusted with the salt of dried tears. There was no doubt I was a hot mess and a half. But that was nothing compared to the mess he’d just spewed.
He reached for me again, but I put a hand up to ward off his movements and curled my upper lip.
Where to even start?
“What I went through? Are you insane?” His gaze jumped around my face as if he couldn’t decide on a safe place to land. “Logan, I actually felt an echo of what you went through. I even experienced some of it in a dream or a weird out of body experience where I was you. What I went through was nothing.”
He opened his mouth to speak, but I slashed a hand through the air to stop him. “Nothing compared to what had been done to you. You were torn to shreds. Literally, in some spots.”
His face paled. I shouldn’t have gone there and instantly regretted bringing it up—but I couldn’t handle his concern for me when he had been tortured. We’d get to the “should never have bonded with you” comment next.
“You experienced some of . . . of what I went through?” he asked.
Shoot, I gave him another reason to beat himself up. Rookie mistake. “Never mind about that. And what’s this business about regretting bonding with me? Frankly, that’s kind of—hey!”
He grabbed my upper arms and held me still as I tried to push away even farther. His blue eyes flashed, and his face was hard as stone. “If bonding with you caused you to feel even a second of what I endured in that place, then yes, it’s something I deeply regret and would do anything to take back.”
Buried under the caveman response was something sweet, but I wasn’t feeling it.
“Argh. You . . .” I pointed a finger at his face. “You just . . .”
As I sputtered to find the right words, the corners of Logan’s lips just barely tipped up. I stopped talking when I spotted his involuntary reaction. Of course I’d find a guy who thought it was cute when I got mad. Actually, that was probably pretty lucky considering I did tend to have a short fuse.
I pressed my lips together and narrowed my eyelids before performing another visual sweep of his body.
Yep, he looked to be relatively healthy.
I launched myself at him and grabbed the sides of his face, and then I planted my lips right over his. Just like the first time I’d surprised him with a kiss, he was momentarily stunned.
I gently but firmly bit down on his full bottom lip in a silent demand for him to get with the program. Then I pulled back a fraction, just far enough that my lips grazed his when I spoke. “Less talking, more kissing.”
I’d gone to Hell and back for this guy. I wanted to collect my reward . . . with interest.

Release Blitz, Review and Giveaway: Fake Out by Eden Finley

Release Date: March 19. 2018
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

The reason I rarely go home is three simple words: I’m a liar.

When the pressure to marry my childhood sweetheart became too much, I told her I was gay and then fled to New York like my ass was on fire.

Now, five years later and after a drunken encounter, I find myself invited to her wedding. And I have to bring my boyfriend—the boyfriend who doesn’t exist because I’m straight.

At least, I think I am. Meeting the guy I’m bribing to be my boyfriend for the weekend makes me question everything about myself.

When my sister asks me to pretend to be some straight guy’s boyfriend, my automatic response is to say no. It’s because of guys like him people don’t believe me when I tell them I’m gay.

But Maddox has something I need.

After an injury that cost me my baseball career, I’m trying to leave my playing days behind and focus on being the best sports agent I can be. Forty-eight hours with my sister’s best friend in exchange for a meeting with a possible client. I can do this.

I just wish he wasn’t so hot. Or that he didn’t kiss like he means it.

Wait … why is the straight guy kissing me?
Attraction is a weird beast. Once Damon loosened up over drinks last night, I began to think we could’ve come out of this weekend as friends. He’s intense but still a decent guy. For some reason, my subconscious held onto that when I went to sleep and decided to show me exactly how decent—or indecent—he could be. While naked. And begging me to fuck him. The dream came out of nowhere, but it dredged up shit from college which I thought was long forgotten. Experimenting—that was all it was freshman year. It wasn’t like I’d found another guy attractive since then. Then why are you dreaming of fucking your fake boyfriend? My dick jumps at the thought. No. Down, buddy. Not going to happen. It was only a dream. I once dreamed I was the spider from Harry Potter. Doesn’t mean I want to fuck a spider. But you weren’t fucking other spiders in that dream. It was all the alcohol last night. Let’s go with that. The dream is one thing, but when I woke next to him, it seemed so real, I was harder than I’d ever been, and it wasn’t morning wood. I was horny. For Damon. Shit. So, yeah, I may be freaking out a little. Or a lot. “Ready to head out?” I ask as I finish eating. “I haven’t bought a wedding gift yet.” Damon downs the rest of his coffee, and I’m mesmerized by his throat as he swallows. I begin to imagine how he’d— Stop it. “Ready,” he says and stands. “Should we do the dishes?” “Nah, that’s what Mom is for.” “Is that so?” Mom’s voice comes from behind us as she trudges in the kitchen door, carrying tote bags full of groceries. “We can’t be late.” I feign innocence. Mom smiles. “Go on, get out of here then.” “Thanks, Mom.” I kiss the top of her head. The awkwardness I’m unwittingly exuding doesn’t dissipate as we make our way to the car. I think Damon’s picking up on it now too, but if he is, he doesn’t acknowledge it aloud. “You have great parents,” he says. “I know.” “They probably won’t care if you told them the truth.” “They won’t care that I lied to them for years?” I ask incredulously. “Yeah, okay. They’re great but not that great.” “The longer you leave it, the worse it’ll be. What happens when you find a girl you want to settle down with?” Pfft, like that’s ever going to happen. “I don’t plan on doing that.” “You’re twenty-three and already resigned yourself to being alone forever?” “I’m not a relationship type of guy. I learned that after Chastity.” “Because you couldn’t break up with her?” “Because I don’t like hurting people. Call me a wimp, call me a pussy, call me whatever you want, but I’d rather not deal with drama. I’m the type of guy who would stay in a relationship for two years too long to avoid confrontation.” “Whoa. It all makes sense now. You think by telling your parents you’re straight, it’ll hurt them because they’ve believed the opposite for so long.” Damon laughs. “Laugh it up.” “Sorry,” he says, still laughing, “but do you realize how absurd your situation is? Most gay people are scared shitless to come out of the closet. You’re scared for your parents to find out that you’re straight.” My molars mash together as I grit my teeth. Out of the corner of my eye, Damon’s smile falters as he studies me. “Are we okay? You seem—” “We’re cool,” I lie. “I’m just distracted with Chastity getting married today. And we’re here.” The car’s barely in park before I jump out. Damon slowly gets out of the car, puts his hands in his pockets, and hangs his head. He probably thinks I’m the biggest asshole. I should say something, but what? Don’t mind me. I had a sex dream about you, and now I can’t look you in the eye. He follows me into the store, and I pause in my tracks. Damon runs into the back of me, and his hands fly to my waist to steady himself. The commotion attracts the attention of the guy who’s getting rung up at the counter. I know him well. We used to be friends. Teammates, even. Damon leans in and whispers, “You know that guy?” “I do. And you need to be extra boyfriendly right now.” His hands tighten on my waist. “This is a boyfriend move. Unless you have a lot of guys holding onto you for dear life.” Right.”

Fake Out is the first book I've read by Eden Finley, and I'll definitely be reading some more. That said, this is listed as a sports romance, and I don't know that I agree with that...just my opinion though.

Damon is a soon to be sports agent who is trying to get his law degree. For the time being, he is interning and looking for clients. Maddox lied and now his whole town thinks he's gay. He's not...at least, not until he convinces his best friend's brother to attend his ex-fiancee's wedding as his date...and then they kiss, he has dreams, and maybe Maddox isn't as straight as he once thought. The issue is, trying to convince Damon to give him a chance. Throw in come quirky side characters, a good story line, some sporting events and athletes (that's the only way this is a sports romance), and you have a great read. Maddox and Damon have their issues and there were a couple of times I had to roll my eyes at them, but I loved the chemistry and their banter. I also liked how they just didn't jump into everything immediately. That wasn't who they were and the author stayed true to their characters.

4.5 stars and I highly recommend you one click this one today.

Eden Finley is a steamy romance author by day, but Batman at night...

Okay, I’m not Batman, but I feel like I am. I have a cool secret name and everything. I have several Young Adult works published under my real name. For this reason, I chose a pen name to write for this genre. Well that, and I don’t want my mother to read these books. Seriously, how freaking awkward would that be?

Jess was so lost in thought about Reece the superstar she forgot the man was in the room, and that she’d imagined he was staring at her. Which was perhaps why she nearly dropped her glass when she felt a tall, solid form move behind her and heard a man say, “Interesting.”

Smooth voice. Deep, silky. A voice she recognized. She’d heard it on the big screen and the small one, since she had copies of every movie he’d starred in—seven from his childhood years, eight from his adult ones. Was he really talking to her?

“Yes, it is,” she murmured, all calm and collected, like she was not shaking in her consignment store shoes.

“Possibly one of the artist’s earlier efforts.”

Hmm. How had he known? “Yes,” Miss Conversational Genius repeated.

“I’m not interrupting, am I?”

The hint of confidence in the tone told her he knew the answer. Had any woman ever told him to go away because he was bothering her? Huh. Doubtful. “Not at all.”

“Good. What is it called?”

“What we’re doing? I think it’s a conversation.” Jess didn’t know where the snarky response came from, or where she’d gotten the nerve to be all quippy with the guy, but there you go. That was her, always a mouth-off away from catastrophe.

“I meant the sculpture,” he said. No laugh. No humor. Crap.

Realizing they were actually going to have a conversation, and knowing it might require face-to-face interaction, she wondered if she was ready for it. Hesitating, she licked her lips and replied, “It’s called Naked Man.”

Knowing it was rude not to face him, she took a deep breath and glanced over her shoulder. Lord have mercy.

Deep breaths might be calming in normal situations—like when one was confronted by a repo man repossessing a car. Been there, done that. But they didn’t work at all when looking into the clear amber eyes of a man every woman on the planet fantasized about. His looks made you silently gawk while you tried to figure out why the arrangement of cheek and jaw, mouth and eyes, was so arresting and unforgettable. She interacted with scruffy, shaggy-haired surf-bum types in the bar where she worked, so she’d almost forgotten how appealing a conservative haircut and a smoothly shaven face could be. Not to mention the sexiness of a perfectly tailored power suit, the charcoal color interrupted only by a splash of red in the necktie.

She finally cleared her throat and pushed a few words out. “It is from very early in the artist’s career. How did you know?”

“She draped the sex organs, as if she wasn’t quite ready to go there.”

Jess nodded, wondering if she was truly talking about men’s packages with the sexiest freaking man alive. Was this really happening, or was she hallucinating? Had that stupid bartender slipped GHB in her drink? Damn, if she woke up tomorrow with no memory of what happened, and then found videos of herself on YouTube, she would rip him a new one.

Book Blast: Pride Of Love by Kevin Dwyer

Book Title: Pride of Love
Author: Kevin Dwyer
Publisher: Alibris
Release Date: June 3, 2014
Fiction or Non Fiction: Fiction
Genre/s: Contemporary, Literature & Fiction, Coming of Age
Length: 143 Pages
Twenty-five-year-old Jesse Coleman endures a heinous act on him. After the case is dropped, his mother, Claire, accedes to his request to move. Leaving behind his old life, he is left with a disturbing scar on his back. Hopelessness comes in on him and he takes off the bracelet that he has worn his whole life, which means something to him. Looking for a new beginning, Jesse who dresses differently meets Jaden who dresses like an outcast and the two fall in love with each other. With love from their mothers and good friend Liz, they try to bury their pasts behind.
The talk show host woman sits on the stage with a fancy couch alongside her with a mother and young grown-up son. The supervisor with the headset on counts down from five to one with his fingers, and the cameras go live. There is audience applause and then a pleasant smile comes on the host's face. "Thank you for tuning in on the Tina Live Show. I'm Tina and my guests today are Claire along with her son, Jesse Coleman." Tina sets her attention on Claire and Jesse. "Thank you for joining us today."

"Thank you for having us," Claire replies back with a smile, then looks at her son, Jesse. She slides Jesse's brown hair bangs to the side from his forehead. "You comfortable being here, sweetie?"

Jesse sets his focus on Tina, who is looking on with the smile diminishing away. "Yea . . . I'm all right," Jesse says.

Tina takes a moment and gathers words to say, then looks at the audience looking on in their seats. "About a year and a half ago, Jesse Coleman was attacked from behind in a wooded area. He was beaten and his back was cut open. Basically, he was left for dead. What's so horrifying about this attack is that the cut on the back spelled a word." Tina looks over at the two sitting right across from each other.

A nod comes from Claire's head, like she's reliving the day. "Yes, the cut spelled out a word. It was not a cut in his back . . . more like a butcher does. My son's back had to be stapled shut."

Tina puts her attention on Jesse. "I'm so sorry that happened to you. You're a strong man to live from that."

"Yea . . . ," Jesse replies back; he is wearing plain clothes with brown shaggy hair covering his head. "Others say that I cheated death."

"How old are you?" Tina asked.

"I'm twenty-six, but I was twenty-five when I was attacked."

Tina looks around his arm area. "Can you explain what that bracelet you have on means?"

Glancing down at his arm, Jesse lifts up the arm and shows a blue, white, and green sown bracelet with "Pride of Love" stitched in black in the colors. "Pretty much means take pride in yourself and love yourself." Jesse sets his eyes on Tina through his glasses. "I'm gay, and that is the little thing that defines me. I was attacked for being who I am. Wasn't bothering no one. Just kept to myself."

Tina looks over at Claire with a blank stare down. "You all right, Claire? Looks like it's hard to talk about." "Yea, I'm fine. After the first court hearing, it was best to leave and start over and I'm thankful for that."

"How did you deal with the attack? I'm a mother of two," Tina tells Claire. "I mean it had to be tough on you, emotional wise."

"Hope . . ." Claire wipes her eyes with fingertips. "Jesse found what he needed when we moved. Found someone that understands him. Small world, don't you say?"
