Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway: Take a Gamble by Rachel Brownell

One summer.
One chance meeting.
One devastating phone call.

MacKenna Trist is not happy about spending a month with her family in Myrtle Beach. She would rather be at home, hanging out with her friends, before starting her senior year of high school. That is, until she meets the guy staying in the beach house next door.

Roe Gamble is speechless when he first lays eyes on Mac. Normally, pretty girls are his specialty but not this girl. From this girl, he wants more. More of everything. More than she can give him. Most importantly, more time to show her how he feels about her.

But time is working against them in more ways than one.

How much time do you really need to fall in love?

What would you gamble to hold onto it?

Take A Gamble was a very unique love story.  I would rate it a 4 stars.  It wasn't the best love story I have ever read but it did have something special that kept me reading.  It was told in a dual POV of Mac and Roe, and it does end with and HEA no cliffhanger (thank goodness).  You will feel different emotions in this book especially for Mac because of her situation she has to deal with.

Mac and Roe have a love story that starts when they are teenagers when both of there families go on a vacation on a wonderful beach, they find themselves in a summer romance that neither wants to end.  But they also find themselves lying about there relationship because of there over bearing parents.  Mac has a secret and she isn't sure she wants Roe to know it.  What will happen when that secret is revealed, will there young love stand?  Mac will make a decision to leave Roe because she doesn't want to bring his life down with hers.  Will this be the biggest mistake of her life?  Years have passed and they are both in college, Mac never thought she would see the day that she actually got to go to college, and she is finally understanding that letting Roe go was a huge mistake.  But she moves on with her life and actually gets engaged to another man, knowing in her heart that she still very much loves Roe, but he never looked for her and she knows he had to move on with his life as well.  What will happen when they run into each other again can they fight the feelings they both still hold for one another or will it always just be a great summer romance?  Or are they willing to finally take a gamble with there hearts?

Hopefully you will all like this story as much as I did, even though its a quick insta young love romance there is more depth to it as well.  Thank you Rachael for a beautiful romance story and I look forward to more from you.

Here are some of my favorite lines from the book:

Mac- His beauty was blinding.  I knew at that moment I wanted more from him than he would probably be willing to give. Guys like him only want one thing.  Girls like me, we want everything.  He was that everything for me.  I wanted him, body and soul.

Roe- She is it for me because she is all that matters anymore.  She is the only thing that makes me want to wake up.  She's the last thing I think about before I go to bed at night.  She's who I dream of.  She is the girl that I am willing to gamble everything on.
I'm taking a gamble on this girl.  All my chips are in the center of the table.  No matter the outcome, I'm all in.

I remember the first time I saw him. I remember how in awe I was of him. His presence was overwhelming. I was speechless, kind of like I am right now. The only thing I could really do was stare. His beauty was blinding. I knew at that moment that I wanted more from him than he would probably be willing to give. Guys like him only want one thing. Girls like me, we want everything.

He was that everything for me. I wanted him, body and soul. I wanted his heart, his love. What I never expected was for him to give it to me. Unconditionally. Freely.

I loved him. He loved me. At least he said that he did. Love can’t really conquer all, though. Can it?

His eyes are sparkling. His mouth is hanging open slightly and I can see his chest rising and falling. This man, he’s everything I ever wanted. Why did I let him go so easily? Why didn’t he fight harder? Why did I?

I feel a hand at the base of my back but I don’t turn my head. That would mean that I would have to break eye contact with him and I don’t think I can do that. I feel my heart breaking at just the thought of turning my head and looking away. I know I will have to eventually.

“Everything okay, babe?”

I hate it when he calls me that. He knows how degraded I feel when he calls me babe. He only does it when he’s trying to mark his territory. Why not just whip it out and take a piss on my foot?

I open my mouth to speak when I see a leggy blonde step in front of him. I can’t see her face but she is tapping her foot like she’s irritated. I have a feeling that one of the steaming cups in his hand must belong to her.

He hands them both to her and steps around her. He slowly takes another step and he’s only a few feet away from me. One more step and he’s standing in front of me now and I’m staring at his chest. I can’t bear to look up. I have a feeling that I am going to be able to see how much I broke his heart just by staring into his beautiful brown eyes.
