I’m so fucking pissed off that she would do this to me. I really thought we had something, but instead, I’m left feeling like an idiot. All I want to do is go back home and forget the last few weeks ever happened, but I’m stuck in this stupid country teaching tennis to spoiled rich kids who care less about playing than I do. All I want to do is forget about her. But things are never that easy, are they?

Wildcard Volume 2 by Missy Johnson picks up immediately where the first one left off and the reader sees a different side of the Ryder that we came to know and love.  He is essentially heartbroken over showing up at Scarlett's house and finding another man there and leaves before she is able to explain.  And while he travels from Chicago to Florida to visit his friend Josh in order to get his head on straight, he not so patiently waits for her to contact him with some kind of explanation.

Scarlett doesn't get the chance to explain to Ryder as she hoped when she shows up in his hotel room.  He very aggressively takes what he wants from her, hoping to purge her from his system but instead of doing just that, it only makes him want her more.  Days later when she finally gets him to listen to the explanation she has been desperate to give him, she tells him the half truth about Jake's father and how he has shown up in her life again though she wants nothing to do with him.  But Scarlett keeps the real reason why he has come back a secret, the ten grand he wants as payment to walk away from her life.  Ten grand that she doesn't have, ten grand that is a weight on her shoulders as she figures out what to do; knowing that the police is not an option because of what he has on her as collateral.  It is only when Ryder does a little digging of his own that he finds out what kind of man her ex Tony really is and tries to rectify the situation himself without telling Scarlett what he is up to.

The cliffhanger....wow.  It leaves you with so many questions that I cannot wait for the next part of this story filled with twists and turns and half truths.  Where did she get the ten grand to pay the man to "take care" of this situation for her?  Will Ryder really pay Tony the 200 grand that he demanded upon their meeting? Will Jake be okay when Scarlett gets to the hospital?

Wildcard Volume 2 was the continuation of Ryder and Scarlett's journey.  Wildcard Volume 1 ended with quite a bit of a cliffhanger and this book picks up right where it left off.  It is told in dual POV's and I would give it a 3.5 stars.  I have to say I was super excited to finally get more of Ryder and Scarlett's story.  This is a very short story but also ends with quite a cliffy!  I think Missy Johnson is trying to kill me slowly cause I need more of this story.. thankfully we don't have to wait too long because it will be out September 30th.

In the first volume you get to meet Ryder the bad boy tennis player sex god... in Volume 2 he has changed and for the better all due to finding Scarlett and her son.  But when an unexpected twist was thrown in at the end of the first book it will send Ryder into a tailspin and he tried to go back to his old ways.

Everytime my hand went near my dick I thought of her and they mood was instantly killed.  This is another example of how I'm just not suited to a relationship.  I'm happy to go back to my anonymous sex and multiple women--at least there's no hiding behind that.  What I wanted out of casual sex was clear and cut and impossible to misinterpret. Relationships were messy and someone always ended up hurt.--- RYDER

Scarlett has a secret from Ryder and she is determined to keep it that way because if it got out it could ruin Ryder.  When she tries to confront Ryder about what happened he shuts her out... she deserves it because he believes the worst and there is nothing she can do... But Ryder feels guilty for the way he treated Scarlett he knows there has to be more to the story so he is determined to find out.... Scarlett's ex will turn both of there lives upside down and she won't know where to turn and can't understand why her ex is back and why he just won't leave her alone.

Why did he have to come back?  Why couldn't he have just left things alone?  Twice I've picked up the pieces of my life after he shattered them into nothing.  I can't go through that again.  I won't go through that again.-- SCARLETT

What Ryder does to try and get to her secrets may end up being the end for Scarlett and Him.

We get to find out more in volume 3 and I can't wait!  I love Ryder! Thanks Missy Johnson!

Wildcard Vol 2 by Missy Johnson
Oh yes!! Volume 2 has arrived!
We left off in the last book with the one woman that was possibly the only woman that could tame THE Ryder Stevens only to find another man at her house. Now he is stuck in the US for three weeks with nothing to do while he waits for the sponsorship mentoring program to start.
This leaves Ryder completely blindsided and unable to sexually function
properly. His mind is on her 24/7. He attempts to masturbate and be with other women only to fail with the thoughts of her always on his mind.
While he is on one of his romps he is photographed and back into the eyes of the paparazzi's and onto the cover of magazines once again.
He gets a surprise visitor from her (Scarlett) one night while he was expecting room service. He takes full advantage of her being there and soon finds out there is a reason Tony, her son's father, has come back into her life. He spotted them on one of the magazine and has requested something from her and if she doesn't deliver he's going to blackmail her.
Ryder decides that he is going to check into this Tony fella on his own and see what he can do to get him out of her life. Will he bite off more than he can chew? According to the person he calls upon to get background info on Tony is telling him to get official help and not to deal with this monster on his own. He has a rap sheet that's too long to type.
Scarlett goes behind Ryder's back and is trying to take care of the matter
herself. Will this put her and her son in danger? Tony said that he would not go beyond hurting their son.
"I don't want anything to do with the kid, nothing at all. But fuck with me, and I'll ruin her life. You can count on that." -Tony
You must read to find out!!

Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).
When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.
