Review Only: Hard Roads by Lily White

This life isn’t one that I chose for myself.
Years spent as a daughter in the Dominion MC left me washed up and struggling to breathe. Life was never flowers and sunshine. It was gravel and dust, the trails of dirt left behind when the brothers tore out, floating up from the ground to hover in front of an angry, red sun.
I could never have imagined that a life sitting at rock bottom could get any worse, but it did.
Life is funny like that.
Just when you think things can’t get any more bleak, a shade is drawn leaving you staggering and blind – lost in a world of heartache and sorrow.
I met J.D. Brooks on the road and he swept me off my feet. Literally. But not in the way you might think.
He was both an angel and a demon.
He was the most vicious storm that ever darkened my life.
He was also my salvation.
Stripped from the hands that always held me back, I was released into a nightmare that would threaten everything I thought I knew about the crap hand I’d been dealt.
I thought I could never hate a man more than the one who stole me from the life I’d known.
And in our time together, he would teach me one important lesson:
That in the end, it doesn’t matter how our paths intersect, because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives...
...we’re all stuck traveling down hard roads.

This is my first Lily White book. I have a long list of her books on my TBR that I am anxious to get to. She has a persona for favoring dark and twisted and a reputation for writing provocative and taboo tales. I was excited to see if Hard Roads delivered. If you are a fan of MC books you will definitely want to read this.  It is essentially a love story about two people that couldn’t be more wrong yet more right for each other.  It lead me to see that we all have a past that may not be pretty or perfect but that past may shape us and show us the beauty in the pain. This story is gritty, sexy, traumatic and full of scenarios revolving around an MC club and its business. In essence it is COMPLICATED, it’s DEEP & it is DARK. And at times it was even  SHOCKING!

Munch is taken and held against her will. Who is she? Why do they need her? That is pivotal to the plot.  He has her and she is a feisty one.  That is until she is then broken.  His guilt for abandoning her when he knew it probably wasn’t wise eats at him.  Discover the connection, passion and journey that JD and Munch must endure along their Hard Roads in life.

“He was both an angel and a demon. He was the most viscious storm that ever darkened my life. He was my salvation.” –Munch

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy and I knew that I could lose her as fast as I’d found her. My heart sank when I realized that tonight might be our last night I had to be with her.” –JD
“I fell asleep beside her thanking the stars that I’d had the chance to be with her.”-JD

I felt deeply for Munch and JD’s predicament. I love a book that tortures me. My emotions were riveted by the highs and lows and unfortunate circumstances they withstood. I don’t typically read MC books that often but I do like one from time to time.
I don’t want to spoil the cleverly crafted plot. Invest your time and soul into this raw read. Hard Roads earned 4.5 stars from me because it had a rich plot, character depth, tangled love and bits of dark moments.
Lilly White created a story full of action and twists, of sinful betrayals and complicated MC connections. It was fascinating, angsty and juicy.  White hit the mark and delivered a story that had me intrigued. It’s obvious she has raw writing talent.
