I first discovered SL Scott when she released her From The Inside Out
Series and I was hooked! She knows how
to pull you into a story and into the lives of the characters she’s
created. Since I did not read the first
book, The Resistance, I came into
this book blind. I didn’t want to know
what the other book was about as it was stated this could be read as standalone. After reading The Redemption, you better believe I’m going back and getting The Resistance!!! I need to know how the
story starts!!! I want to know more about these characters and their
story! I am such a groupie now and damn
proud of it!!!
The Resistance is the name of a very successful rock
band. Cory, their guitar, player’s
sudden death leaves everyone to pick up the pieces and find a way to move on, including
his girlfriend and mother of his children, Rochelle. She is the band’s manager and having two
small children, she has to continue on for them.
Dex is the typical bad boy musician. He has the trouble past including drugs,
alcohol, and lots of women. His past precedes
him and everyone expects him to play the part he has done so well for
years. Except Rochelle. She sees the real Dex. Not the fake exterior that he portrays for
everyone but the one he keeps hidden inside.
Both of them struggle with their feelings. Rochelle feels like she must be loyal to the
ghost that is still there in heart. Cory
and Dex where bandmates and Cory always looked out for Dex. Rochelle struggles with a sense of betrayal to
Cory. Even though he is no there, his children are and they deserve to have
their father’s memory intact. Even with
the feeling of loneness, the feeling of betrayal is stronger.
“How much pain can one heart bear? Am I willing to take
another beating? Is Dex worth it?”
Can Dex prove to Rochelle he can be worth it to her and her
children? With his past baggage and her
loss, it’s a fine line they must walk if they will find happiness. Both of them are so troubled at times it’s
sad that they cannot see what is right in front of them. If they would only open their hearts and
their eyes, they would see the other struggling with the same demons.
“You’re inside of me, the blood that fills my veins, the
aches that my heart feel, and every good decision I ever made. That’s what you mean to me. I can’t stay away from you and I don’t want
to…. You’re the melody I can’t capture and the notes I can’t hit. But I can’t fight your pull, always gravitating
toward your world to you.”
How is someone supposed to resist that??? That just made my heart melt!!! If you love a rocker romance, this is definitely
one to pick up!!! I absolutely loved
this one and SL Scott is now an author that is an automatic one click for
me!!!
