Blog Tour: Ready Or Not by J.L. Berg

Born into wealth and privilege, free-spirited Liv Quinn left it all behind when she realized there was more to life than living off of trust funds and barely skating by.  Since then, she’s worked and fought for everything she’s earned and never looked back at the world or the family she left behind.

Jackson Reid is starting over with a new job in a brand new city.  A single father to his son Noah, he hopes the change will help strengthen the bond that has seemed to suffer since puberty reared its ugly head.  What he hadn’t planned on was Liv—his exotic next-door neighbor who drives him insane with her wild, new age lifestyle, but still manages to leave him aching for more.

As challenges arise and feelings intensify, will these neighbors be able to look past their differences and find a middle ground?  When love comes knocking, will they be ready, or not?

Ready or Not by J.L .Berg is the 4th book in the Ready Series. In this book the reader is introduced to Liv, an eccentric therapist and her hottie neighbor Jackson Reid and his son Noah.  This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend that everyone read this great series, following a group of super close friends that become a tight knit family that will do anything to protect each other.

Liv was born Olivia Prescott, the daughter of the ever important Senator Prescott.  Unable to live up to the expectations that came with being a Senator's daughter, Liv walked away from her family to have her own life by her own rules.  Starting her own practice, she counsels those who seek her guidance, especially the children that are brought to her office, hoping that she can make a difference in their lives.

Jackson Reid is a single father, who's sole focus is to care for his son Noah.  A prestigious lawyer, he moves from his hometown where everyone knows everyone else and owes them a favor to Richmond and the home that was his late grandmother's.  Worried that he is not enough for the teenage boy that Noah is becoming, he takes him to see Liv in the hopes that an unbiased third party will help Noah open up.  Little does he know that Liv is actually his neighbor, which severs the therapist/patient relationship between her and Noah.

Jackson and Liv's relationship begins as neighbors who enjoy playing practical jokes with each other, some of the jokes to the extreme and involving the other girls for reinforcements.  But soon the time that the begin to spend together turns into something more, something Liv is not accustomed to. Having lived most of her adult life never having a serious relationship with any man but serial dating, she is not used to the feelings that Jackson is beginning to bring out in her.  Jackson is worried about becoming involved with Liv, a woman who has "been around the block" when it comes to men.  He knows that he needs to take into account the affect a relationship with her could have on Noah, since they have grown close but he is unable to keep her at arms length for long.  When Liv's parents return to her life unexpectedly after 8 years of silence, Jackson & Noah along with all of her friend rally around her to help her decide whether she wants to give them a second chance.

Will Jackson and Liv be able to have a relationship despite the many obstacles that seem to get in their way, one of them being Liv pushing Jackson away when the going gets tough?  Or will they be able to get through anything as long as they have each other and their circle of friends at the end of the day?  You will have to read to find out.
