Blog Tour: Slow Burn by K. Bromberg

Meet Becks & Haddie in SLOW BURN - the newest stand alone in the
Driven Series by K. Bromberg!

ONE NIGHT. THAT'S ALL IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.

Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while....There weren’t supposed to be any strings attached—so why can’t she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?

No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend’s reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked....

Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn’t come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

K. Bromberg has a way with words that few authors can actually accomplish. She takes the words on the page, so filled with intense emotion that the reader can feel them deep in their souls while reading. Slow Burn is the fifth book in the Driven Series focusing on the handsome, sexy, loyal, laid-back best friend of the ever famous Colton Donovan; Becks. I was beyond thrilled when I had heard that K. Bromberg was writing Becks' story and couldn't wait to read it. Becks character intrigued me from the very beginning, the first time (and certainly not the last) that I read Driven. I wondered what was behind the eyes and in the heart of this fiercely loyal best friend to Colton and I finally got to find out! This book was a 4.5 star read for me and anyone who has not picked up the Driven Series needs to immediately stop what they are doing and jump onto the checkered flag bandwagon because you will be far from disappointed.

Becks hooks up with Haddie, who is Rylee's best friend, following the much awaited wedding Colton and Ryles. Haddie has always been attracted to the handsomely sexy Becks and his laid back ways, but with everything that has happened in her life over the last year; the only thing that she is looking for is a one-night stand. How could she even begin to look for and find what Colton and Rylee now have when her future is so uncertain. Becks being the gentleman that the readers knows him to be tries not to take advantage of Haddie in her inebriated state, but she pushes until he finally gives in. Becks knows that one night with Haddie will never be enough but she is determined to push him away as quickly as they came together, to keep his and her heart safe from breaking.

Just when the reader lets out the breath they were holding wondering if Haddie and Becks would finally get together for more than a one night no strings attached romp the rug is pulled out from under us and she walks away from Becks again. Not understanding why Haddie has walked away yet again, Becks is angry and attempts to drink his troubles away when Colton finds him and blurts out a truth that Haddie has kept from Becks the entire time they have been attempting to begin their relationship. Having the truth, no matter how immensely scaring and unknown it is does not stop Becks from going to Haddie because he realized in those moments of chatting with Colton at the bar that she is his voodoo pussy just like Rylee was Coltons.

I absolutely loved everything about this story, I laughed, I cried and I got a small glimpse at the life of Rylee and Colton after their wedding day which was a plus in my eyes! This book was true to the rest of the Driven Series that it evoked emotions in the reader that you don't expect to have but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. K. Bromberg is truly a gifted author and I cannot wait for whatever comes next from her!

"She pulls me in tight and hugs me again, her mouth close to my ear when she speaks. It's okay to use my boy when you need strength. His back won't break if you do, but his heart just might break if you don't."

Slow Burn was another amazing sexy read by that fabulous author K. Bromberg. I would give this book a burning 5 stars. As much as I loved Colton in the driven series I seriously had to fan myself a few times with Becks. The best part was we got a little more Colton in this book as well and damn if he didn't crack me up once again. The driven series has to be me favorite series out there and this just made it that much more wonderful. The steam does not settle in this book for long periods of time but it will also steal at your heartstrings as well. This book was the whole package for me and you will fall in love with K. Bromberg even more after reading this. And who doesn't love there nicknames City and Country love it!

Becks and Haddie are the best friends of the main characters in the driven series and they of course met through them.. but it was always innocent flirting.. but they will have a steamy night that will change the course for both of them. With ever fling lines will get blurry and it will keep you guessing as to what is going to happen next.. demons will haunt both characters but can they face them together or will they push eachother away to deal with them on there own? Or is the slow burn of there relationship to hard to push aside?

Go get this book now.. my review is short but we were asked to not give spoilers so I can't say no more.. all I can say is go get it... If you loved the ride Colton gave us just wait for the ride that Becks will give you! Thanks K. Bromberg for a fantastic ride!

He bites his bottom lip and grimaces. “Fuck!” He growls out to the trees above him and then rolls his shoulders to dissipate some of the stress I see settling there. “Semantics aren’t an excuse. An omission is the same as lying Haddie, but you’re missing the point entirely. It’s not whether it was a lie or not. It’s so damn far from that. It’s you using the sex we’ve had to numb yourself when it should do the exact opposite. It should light your body on fire and burrow so deep under your skin that all you think about is the next time you can have me…because fuck if that’s not what you’ve done to me. So I call your bluff. I’ll keep calling it every fucking day until you admit you want me, that being with me does that to you too…but you won’t will you?” I just remain still, face impassive, body raging with emotion beneath the surface. “You’d rather stand there and tell me you prefer the numb, the void, the nothing, than admit you need me.”

His eyes have their own language as we stare at each other, the power of his words bringing tears to my eyes and knocking the words from my lips. “I was just doing what I thought was best, protecting everyone from more hurt, more everything.” And I hate the numb, I scream silently. I hate it so fucking much that every time we touch you make me feel so alive I realize how dead I’ve felt inside over the past year.

I don’t know why I don’t tell him the rest. Like if I do then I’m just sealing my fate by Murphy’s fucking Law so I keep quiet.

“Really? That’s all you’ve got for me? Next time make sure your eyes and your lips match up City because you’re just adding insult to injury right now. Your refusal to answer is infuriating. Need me Haddie. Use me as your goddamn emotional punching bag or your real one for that matter but fucking need me. I’m not some schmuck who’s going to bolt at the first rough patch and the fact that you still don’t see that is a crock.” He blows out a loud breath, jaw clenched, anger palpable. “I’m so fucking pissed but I’m also so fucking mesmerized by you right now and I don’t know what the hell to do or say. All I know is that protecting someone from the truth is just another way of shutting them out.”

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author K. Bromberg is that reserved woman sitting in the corner who has you all fooled about the wild child inside of her—the one she lets out every time her fingertips touch the computer keyboard.

K. lives in Southern California with her husband and three children. When she needs a break from the daily chaos of her life, you can most likely find her on the treadmill or with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good, saucy book.

On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Her debut novels, Driven, Fueled, and Crashed of The Driven Trilogy were well received and went on to become multi-platform bestsellers as well as landing on the New York Times and USA Today lists. Her other works include a short story, UnRaveled, and a companion piece to The Driven Trilogy titled Raced. She is currently working on three stand alone Driven novels, Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, and Hard Beat. She also plans to release a novel addressing the 10 year gap at the ending of Crashed in late fall 2015
