Blog and Excerpt Tour: Devoted by Lexi Blake

A woman’s work

Amy Slaten has devoted her life to Slaten Industries. After ousting her corrupt father and taking over the CEO role, she thought she could relax and enjoy taking her company to the next level. But an old business rivalry rears its ugly head. The only thing that can possibly take her mind off business is the training class at Sanctum…and her training partner, the gorgeous and funny Flynn Adler. If she can just manage to best her mysterious business rival, life might be perfect.

A man’s commitment

Flynn Adler never thought he would fall for the enemy. Business is war, or so his father always claimed. He was raised to be ruthless when it came to the family company, and now he’s raising his brother to one day work with him. The first order of business? The hostile takeover of Slaten Industries. It’s a stressful job so when his brother offers him a spot in Sanctum’s training program, Flynn jumps at the chance.

A lifetime of devotion….

When Flynn realizes the woman he’s falling for is none other than the CEO of the firm he needs to take down, he has to make a choice. Does he take care of the woman he’s falling in love with or the business he’s worked a lifetime to build? And when Amy finally understands the man she’s come to trust is none other than the enemy, will she walk away from him or fight for the love she’s come to depend on?

He was either falling deeper into her web or she was getting closer to him. It didn’t matter tonight. Tonight, all that mattered was she was here.

“So, how are you really feeling? Will told me I should give you something if your muscles start to ache.” It was the only damn reason he hadn’t attacked her in the shower. Sometimes it took a few hours for the pain to set in. He didn’t want to give her more. He could wait.

Her hand went to his thigh as she moved slightly away from him so she could look at his face. “I feel great. I feel better than great. I am tired though. Long day. Maybe we should turn in.” She frowned. “I don’t have a toothbrush.”

Oh, she of little faith. “I had one delivered along with the prescriptions Will called in for you if you need them. One’s for pain and the other is an anti-inflammatory.”

“I don’t need them.” She sat back and it was the first time since the shower that she hadn’t been touching him. “Where do you want me to sleep?”

“You can take my bedroom.” He probably wouldn’t sleep at all. He would sit out here and work. It was what he usually did at night. He would sit in his perch high above the city and work until it was almost dawn. “The bed is very comfortable.”

“But you won’t be in it.”

This was the moment he’d been waiting for, kind of dreading and desperately anticipating all at the same time. “Not if I think I could hurt you.”

She huffed a little and stood up. “I’ll be back.”

He reached out and gripped her wrist. “Where do you think you’re going?”

“To find a doctor who will write me a note so you’ll have sex with me.”

He couldn’t help but smile at that. She was pouting like a kid who’d lost her favorite toy. This was why he’d pushed her to cry in the shower. He needed this Amy back. His Amy. He’d hated how polite and courteous she’d been when they’d been in public. Oh, she’d allowed him to handle some things, but her smile hadn’t reached her eyes and not a single sarcastic remark had passed those luscious lips of hers. It was wrong and counter to everything he’d come to know about her.

This Amy boldly told him what she wanted and was willing to do whatever it took to get it.

This Amy wanted him.

Devoted is another good story in 1001 Dark Nights Novellas Series.
I would give this book a 3.5 stars and recommend to others.
Even though this is apart of a series it can be read as a standalone.
This does have some light BDSM- lighter than I expected.
This was a good story, just didn't pull me in entirely but good all the same.

Amy and Flynn have quite the history because of there families.. they are enemies in the business world because of there father's the crazy part they have never met, but enemies by default. Fortunately only one realizes who the other is when they first meet. When the sparks fly will Flynn back away because of she is?? Or will Amy find out the secrets and put a stop to there relationship once and for all??

Well this was a quick little ditty in the 1001 dark Knights Collection.

This is a spin-off from Lexi Blake's series, but is considered a standalone. While some characters from the other series come into play, you aren't completely in the lurch.

Flynn and Amy are considered rivals. This feud was handed down to them from their fathers.

The one thing they both have in common is Sanctum, only they have never met in real life and didn't know they would be partnered with each other. Each of them going in under different names.

As the feud seems to ramp up so does their relationship. And Flynn figures out who is partner is. Flynn keeps this knowledge to himself to see if she is playing him...

What happens when she does find out? Will she walk away? Will they give up their business rivalry?

Wanna find out what happens when you lock two rival CEO's in a kinky sex club?

Sparks will fly!

Amy is the CEO of her father's old company, the company that she voted him out of. Now she's trying to stay a float while she proves her worth to the board and keeps the company from sinking.

Flynn is the CEO of his own company, but his heart isn't in it - until it is.

When Amy decides to join a sex club and take 'sub' classes, to help her relax and explore - she has no idea that she's been paired with her business rival. She begins falling for Flynn the minute he lets her in and begins to show her a true D/s relationship.

It doesn't take long for Amy's father to come back in the picture with a vengeance and threats to her career. Threats that promise to take down Flynn too. That's when Flynn's lies and omission about his true identity explodes as well.

In his ultimate gesture of love, Flynn swoops in and manages to save Amy and her company in one giant plan that also gives him what he wants as well.

This story is a novella but it is very well written. The character's are developed beautifully and their story is not left untold. You won't be left hanging with this one.
